Start outside, then move systematically

Observe the approach, grade, drainage clues, parking and entry. Inside, walk every room in the same direction, look at accessible ceilings and floors, and note layout measurements that matter to your furniture or mobility. Ask permission before photographing personal belongings or opening storage.

Save questions for the right follow-up

Do not operate unfamiliar equipment, climb into unsafe spaces or infer hidden condition from a clean surface. Record the location of stains, cracks, odors or inaccessible areas and ask a qualified inspector to evaluate them. Return at a relevant time to observe sound and access conditions.
